We have been awarded a Gold Certification (premium) from the Leather Working Group (LWG), a not-for-profit membership organisation which assesses the environmental performance of leather manufacturers, based upon best practices within the industry, and certifies good environmental practices. Gold certification is the highest award, bestowed only on manufacturers with scores of 85% and above.

The Rahman Story

Forayed into exporting leather

Over three decades ago, the Rahman Group began its journey as Allahdad Tannery. Within the first decade of its operations, it fearlessly forayed into exporting leather and shoe uppers. Once it experienced success in exports of its premium finished leather, there was no turning back – the group would not stop till the world was its market.

Best infrastructure resources

To transform this dream into a reality, the first step would be to rest assured that its quality was nothing less than supreme. So, before the turn of the millennium, the group invested in the best infrastructure resources and most advanced machines. It also acquired 65 acres of industrial land area at Unnao in India, where it developed an integrated plant, to manufacture all types of leather and safety footwear. For all these initiatives, the Rahman Group was rewarded with an ISO - 9000 certification, making it the first manufacture of safety and military footwear in India to receive this endorsement.

Enhanced its capacity

To promote backward integration, which would further assure quality, along with precise supply schedules, the group commenced manufacturing of rubber, adhesives and other critical components. It also enhanced its capacity manifold for the manufacture of leather and leather footwear. And, to balance the production capabilities, it acquired a tannery in Kanpur, India too.

Manufacturing saddlery & equestrian products

The story of the Rahman group continued to be a narrative of rapid expansion and diversification moves. Towards this end, it forged into manufacturing saddlery and equestrian products, under the brand name Rahman Industries Pvt. Ltd., which carved a niche in the sphere of riding accessories products in a short span of time.

State-of-the-art- technology

2005 was a significant year for Rahman. It established another firm Rahmco SRL, in Italy, to expand its marketing capabilities in the leather industry and commenced production at its goat tannery, which was equipped with state-of-the-art-technology for producing high quality leather. All this enabled it to cater to the requirements of the safety and fashion footwear industry, leather garments, upholstery and furniture leather and leather goods industry all around the globe.

Legacy French company – Lemaitre

The year 2007 was truly a landmark year for the Rahman Group. It made a strategic investment in the legacy French company – Lemaitre, a brand revered for its tradition of innovation and state-of-the-art manufacturing. With this addition to the fold, Rahman gained access to mastery over the technology of direct injection on double-density PU sole uppers.

Top Business Houses in India

From then on, the global and domestic expansion of the Group continued to pick up pace. It established its presence in Europe and South Africa and launched a new factory at Dehradun, India, to cater to the Indian market. Rahman started promoting its Safetix Safety footwear brand in India and today, it is a proud supplier of safety footwear to the top Business Houses in India.

Adopted ERP as part of its IT vision

For seamless operational control and to serve its clients across the globe more efficiently, in 2009, Rahman Industries adopted ERP as part of its IT vision. The Group went live with SAP, the leader in ERP software, in March 2010.

Partnerships for Progress

In its tirelessly march ahead, the Rahman Group tied up with Icon Designs, a company that uses the latest technology to manufacture work wear and army garments. It forged a joint venture with MNC for the manufacturing and buyback of Safety Footwear with PU soles, which conformed to EN 344/345 norms on the world renowned Desma machines.

Performance Brands Ltd

In 2015, to expand its presence in the United Kingdom, the Rahman Group opened a subsidiary business in the UK called Performance Brands Ltd. This company would go on to market Rahman’s full range of brands there, including Perf, Lemaitre and Safetix.

Manufacturing and export

Today, the Rahman Group is a multinational conglomerate, comprising several companies engaged in the manufacturing and export of safety footwear, upholstery and other leather products. .
